Trump Cancels Israeli Strike on Iran's Nuclear Sites

US President Donald Trump decided to cancel a proposed Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, choosing diplomacy instead. Sources reveal that the US government prioritised talks over military action to put pressure on Iran’s nuclear program.

The decision came after months of consultations and high-level meetings, during which the risks of a military strike were carefully reviewed.

Reports said Israel had prepared for a strike in May to curb Iran’s nuclear capability. However, full US support was crucial to prevent an Iranian retaliation, ultimately leading Trump to opt for negotiations.

Meanwhile, US envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, stressed that Iran must stop its uranium enrichment if it wishes to reach any deal with Washington.

On the other side, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi insisted that uranium enrichment is Iran’s fundamental right and will not be compromised. He stated that Iran’s position would be presented at the negotiation table.

Tensions also rose as disagreements appeared over the next round of nuclear talks. Initially planned for Muscat, the venue was later shifted to Rome, which drew criticism from Iran, calling it a sign of “lack of seriousness” from the US.
